Waŋganydhu waluy, märrma' ḏirramu ga waŋgany yothu nhinan walal gan mathirraŋur.
One day, two men and one child were sitting in the cave.
Bala ŋayiny waŋganydja yolŋu waŋan bitjarr, “Way! Nhumany dhu dhiyal, ŋarra dhu bala
ŋarirriw' ga maranydjalkku.”
Then one man said to them, "Hey! Can you stay here, and i will go for fish and stingray."
Ga ŋayi waŋgany yolŋu ŋunhi ŋayi gan wäŋaŋur nhinan, ŋayiny marrtjin bala gapulil, ḏiṯthurr
ŋayi gan ŋunha guḻunŋur.
And that man who was sitting at the cave, he went away to look for water, he collected water at the billabong across the way.
Bala ŋayiny yothuny dhawaṯthurra beŋuryiny mathirraŋur, bala ŋayi marrtjin buḻ'yurra
retjakurra.
Then the child went out from the cave, he went and was playing in the bushes.
Bala maṉḏa rrambaŋin roŋiyinany, ŋayi ŋarirri'ŋur ga ŋayi beŋur gapuŋur ḏiṯthunaŋur.
Then the two men came back together, one man with some fish and the other with some water he had collected.
Bala maṉḏa dhä-birrka'yunmin, “Way! Nhäkurr yothuny marrtjin?”
“Yo....o yaka ŋarra marŋgi.”
“Way! Dhuwal ŋayi ḻukuny. Bulnha dhika nhä. Ŋäma nhe ga rirrakay?”
"Bäyŋun dhika ŋayi, winya'yurra gurrupuruŋu yothu.”
Then those two talked amongst themselves. "Hey! Where did that boy go?"
"Hmm, Im not sure."
"Hey! here are his footprints. Slow down, there's something. Can you hear a sound?"
"No, he's not here. He's lost, poor child."
Bala maṉḏa gurthan djäma ŋäthila walalaŋ, bili nhäŋal maṉḏa yindi waltjaṉ marrtjin molthin.
Then they made a fire first, because they saw heavy black rain coming towards them.
Bala yan maṉḏa marrtjinan ḻarruŋala nhanŋun yothuwnha, bala beŋuryiny yindin waltjaṉ
bunan bala walalany dharyurra.
They then went looking for that boy, and then a big rain came and rained on them.
Ga ŋayiny yothuny marrtjin guyŋarrthinan bala ŋayi nhinanan dhuḏiŋur warragaŋurnha.
The boy was getting very cold, and he sat under a cycad tree.
Ga bulu maṉḏa marrtjin bala bitjarr märr, bala maṉḏa nhäŋala yothunhany ŋayi gan nhinan
dhuḏiŋur warragaŋur.
They walked a bit further, then they saw the boy sitting under the cycad tree.
Bala märraŋalnydja ŋanya maṉḏa, bala walal roŋiyinan wäŋalila.
Then they got the boy, and they all returned home.
Ga ŋunhi walal bunan mathirraŋurnydja bala maṉḏa bathara ŋunhi märrma' ŋarirri' ga
waŋgany maranydjalk, bala ḻukanan walal. Ga ŋayiny bulu yindithin waltjaṉdja.
When they arrived at the cave, they cooked the two fish and one stingray and then ate them. Then the rain became bigger.
Bala beŋuryiny walal gapun ŋuḻkthurr, bala walalaŋ yakurrnha bunan ŋunhiliyi
mathirraŋurnydja, maranhun ga mulkan walal gan ŋorranany.
Then they all drank water and went to sleep in the cave, they all slept dry and with full stomachs.
